Local elections have direct impact on our lives

Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy.

The Jewish Federation of Rockford, a partner of the nonpartisan coalition Go Vote 815, supports using our vote to elect those who reflect our values to represent us and to weigh in on ballot measures.

By voting, we have a voice in how our government is run and how it impacts our lives.

The Consolidated Elections will be held on April 4, 2023. Voters will be asked to select their choices for school board members, various city, township, and county officials, as well as trustees for Rock Valley College.

More than any other election, local elections have a direct impact on our lives.

School board members and college trustees that can responsibly lead our educational institutions forward helps to strengthen our community to the benefit of all.

Education is the bedrock of our community and an economic engine that provides and attracts an educatedworkforce and a strong business environment. Local government manages many different things.

Elected officials spend money to influence and decide what a community’s priorities are and how it will be run. These decisions directly affect the lives of residents.

VOTE 815 and its partner organizations will hold candidate meet and greets, giving you the chance to ask questions of those running for school board and trustee.

The Harlem School District School Board meet and greet will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. March 22 at Windsor School, 935 Windsor Road, Loves Park.

The Rockton village officials and Hononegah District School Board meet and greet will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. March 22 at the Rockton Community Center, 302 W. Main St., Rockton.
